Whether you are doing great things or atrocious things for your health, you are constantly shifting in one direction or the other. You have self care habits that you participate in everyday. If you feel like changing for the better is overwhelming, look at the following and see if you can start with just one of the following 5 elements each month for the next 5 months. As hard as it is, if you keep coming back to these SIMPLE basics, it can be less overwhelming and more likely to result in lasting LONG TERM benefits. SHIFT!
Sleep
Most people don’t get enough. Figure out how much makes you feel great and then try to adjust your schedule to get that amount most nights.
Habit of movement
Insert 5 minutes of movement into each hour of your day. Sitting is a silent killer.
Intentional interactions
Spend time with people who light you up. Limit time with people who drag you down. Know the difference.
Food
Eat food recognizable by Laura Ingalls Wilder (1800’s). Eat mostly plant based foods. Eat (significantly) less than a restaurant would serve you
Time for you
Whether it be meditation, prayer, journaling, or quiet solitude, carve out a few minutes (literally the time of a bathroom break to start) for some time for YOU!
